ABOR: Cross-Border Basics: Visas & FIRPTA

Austin and Central Texas remain top destinations for international buyers and investors, and knowing how to guide these clients through a U.S. transaction is a valuable skill for any agent. Join us Thursday, November 19, from 1:00–3:00 PM CST at ABoR HQ for this two-hour seminar — a cross-group collaboration between the Diversity Committee, Global Advisory Group, and Global Ambassadors built around the Global Business Alliance's flagship "Top 15 Things Every Foreign Client Should Consider" guide. The session opens with a walkthrough of the guide itself — a practical resource you can reference with your own international clients. Immigration Attorney Jason Finkelman follows with an overview of the top visa and immigration pathways for foreign buyers hoping to live and work in the U.S., from E-2 Treaty Investor visas to EB-5 Immigrant Investor status. The seminar wraps up with a session on FIRPTA (Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act) and the tax considerations agents need to understand when representing a foreign seller, presented by Marc Enzi of Tax Solutions FIRPTA Counseling in Houston and Carroll Hyndman of First American Title. Whether you're new to working with international clients, or looking to sharpen your expertise, you'll leave with practical takeaways for your next transaction — plus copies of all three Top 15 guides (English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese) to keep on hand.
