HBA: CBRC Joint Meeting with CRAN - The Build HD Standard: Why Code Minimum Isn't Enough

The Build HD Standard: Why Code Minimum Isn't Enough Building code sets the floor, not the goal. A house can pass every inspection and still leak, rot, struggle with humidity in the shoulder seasons, or need major repairs within fifteen years. Most of those failures aren't mysteries. They come from a few predictable sources: water getting in, air moving where it shouldn't, and assemblies that weren't designed to dry. Many of them are locked in long before anyone breaks ground, through decisions made on the drawings. Build HD is a new standard built to close that gap. It starts from code and adds a clear, streamlined set of priorities: water management, air control, structural performance, and durability. It turns building science into specific expectations that architects, builders, and trades can actually carry out. In this session, Matt Risinger and Tim Hill of Risinger Build explain what the standard requires, why they built around it, and how it plays out on real projects, from mechanical room placement to wall assemblies and sheathing details. Architects and builders will leave with a shared framework for designing and building homes that perform for generations, plus a practical sense of where design and construction need to start working together earlier. ***PLEASE NOTE*** - THIS PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO HBA MEMBERSHIP TYPES OF: Builders, Interior Designers, Architects, and Engineers.
